Christchurch City Council Variable Message Sign Contract

Awarded in 2019 this project involved the supply, installation and maintenance of full colour variable message signs (VMS) to replace older failing technology across four city arterial sites. The VMS were based on technology used elsewhere in New Zealand but with bespoke elements to cater for the chosen mounting structures including existing no access gantries, meaning the VMS did not have the traditional rear access doors rather the entire front display was hinged for front access. The VMS communicate via both NTCIP and bespoke parking applications and have relocated main controllers at ground level to minimise the need for working at height for maintenance and fault diagnosis.
