Northern Busway

Auckland’s Northern Busway is a segregated busway running parallel to the Northern Motorway (SH1). It links the North Shore’s public transport network via two-way lanes between Albany and Akoranga stations blending into a southbound only lane to the northern end of the Auckland Harbour Bridge.

Armitage Group was chosen from a large pool of local and international companies to provide the critical electronic systems used to operate and monitor the Busway and its stations. Systems included security, emergency IP telephony, CCTV, access control, public address, smoke detection, ITS, UPS and power and fibre optic communication networks.

This transport initiative was developed in response to the traffic congestion on Auckland’s Northern Motorway during peak times.

Armitage worked successfully on the various separable portions of this contract with two head contractors; HEB Construction and NZ Strong. Armitage’s scope of work was delivered on time and on budget. Armitage had zero lost time injuries throughout the projects.
